The “Minyo Balkanski” foundation supports Bulgaria’s talented youth

The “Minyo Balkanski” foundation was founded by the family of Professor Minko Balkanski and its headquarters is located in the village of Oryahovitza in the Stara Zagora region.

The foundation hosts annual summer school trainings in French, mathematics, physics and electronics open for all students from grade 8 to 12 in Bulgaria.


A further annual initiative is the competition for young inventors.  Young inventors who have devised new inventions, gadgets and machines are taking part in it. Participation is granted when the young inventors present a brief description of the idea, a theoretical justification and furthermore the experimental setting directed towards the practical implications (including what are the requirements for the invention to be realised). Since 1993 the structures of the foundations have held annual mathematics, physics, informatics competitions open for students nationwide.  The distinct participants are invited to a weeklong visit Paris. This provides them with an opportunity to get to know the French culture alongside with the opportunities for further education in France and its universities.
