Driver training & driving test
To obtain a driving licence, you:
- do not have to sign up with an approved driving school,
- must pass a theory exam and a practical test organised by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency.

The minimum age at which you can obtain a driving licence is:
|Category A1 (up to 125 cc)||17 years|
|Category A2 (up to 35 kW cc)||19 years|
|Category A (over 35 kW cc)||24 years|
|Category B (passenger cars)||17 years|
Fitness to drive
If you wish to renew an EU driving licence over the age of 70 you must undergo a medical check:
- Category A - every 3 years over the age of 70
- Category B - every 3 years over the age of 70
