Driver training & driving test

To obtain a driving licence, you:

  • must sign up with an approved driving school for at least 8 hours of theoretical instruction (categoty B) and 12 hours of practical training (category A).
  • must pass a theory exam and a practical test organised by the Motorfahrzeugkontrolle Gewerbeweg 2, Postfach 684, 9490 Vaduz, Telnr. 00423 236 75 01.

Age requirement

The minimum age at which you can obtain a driving licence is:

Category A1 (up to 125 cc) 18 years
Category A2 (up to 35 kW cc) 18 years
Category A (over 35 kW cc) 25 years
Category B (passenger cars) 18 years

Fitness to drive

If you wish to renew an EU driving licence, you must undergo a medical check:

  • for category A - every 2 years over the age of 70
  • for category B - every 2 years over the age of 70
