EU driving licences - conditions
Driver training & driving test
To obtain a driving licence, you:
- must sign up with an approved driving school. Minimum amount of theoretical instruction and practical training depends upon vehicle category for which you want a driving licence,
- must pass a theory exam and a practical test organised by a testing center of the Estonian Road Administration.
The minimum age at which you can obtain a driving licence is:
|Category A1 (up to 125 cc)||16 years|
|Category A2 (up to 35 kW cc)||18 years|
|Category A (over 35 kW cc)||20 years, if the person has previously had A2 licence for 2 years; otherwise 24 years|
|Category B (passenger cars)||18 years|
Fitness to drive
If you wish to renew an EU driving licence, you must undergo a medical check:
- for category A - every 10 years, and every 5 years over the age of 65
- for category B - every 10 years, and every 5 years over the age of 65
