Driving licence loss, theft, replacement when on holiday – Malta

If you lose your driving licence, contact:

If, as an EU citizen, you lose your driving licence on holiday you should inform the Police who will provide you with a report.

On presentation of the report we can check the RESPER system and issue you with a confirmation letter. If this is not available then a confirmation request will be sent abroad.

Confirmation letters can be issued on request for foreign EU authorities, Embassies or Police. It is at their discretion to accept the document in the absence of the original driving licence.

These letters are also issued upon request for individuals who wish to Exchange their driving licence.
