Health and safety
As of 30 March 2019, all EU law will cease to apply to the UK, unless a ratified withdrawal agreement establishes another date, or the European Council and the UK decide unanimously to extend the two-year negotiation period. For more information about the legal repercussions for businesses:
EU-rules specify minimum requirements for providing a safe, healthy working environment, including general principles on:
- preventing/eliminating risk and accident factors
- giving workers and their representatives relevant information and training.
You must for example introduce measures to prevent dangerous situations and provide for first aid - and appoint 1 or more trained staff members to ensure these measures are complied with.
For more details of what you have to do in a particular EU country, check the national health & safety at work rules.
