Geographical indications – Cyprus

Cyprus implements the provisions of Regulation No (EU) 1151/2012 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 21 November 2012 on quality schemes for agricultural products and foodstuffs.

Details for the implementation of the above mentioned regulation are included in the national laws 139(I)/2006pdfel, 59(I)2007pdfel and 31(I)2010pdfel.

In this context, the names of the following Cypriot agricultural products and foodstuffs have been registered in the European Register of protected designations of origin and protected geographical indications:

As far as the wines and spirits are concerned the following PDOs' and PGIs' are protected at national level by the national Law and related Regulatory Administrative Acts pursuant to the provisions of European law.
