Short description  This report addresses treating the effects of child abuse. The Committee has concluded that only a few types of evidence-supported treatment are available. In addition, the fragmentation of care hampers an integrated approach to diagnosis and treatment of victims of child abuse.
An evidence-based approach is essential for improvement, in addition to creating a solid foundation for scientific research.
This year two multidisciplinary centres for the treatment of victims of child abuse are launched in the Netherlands, integrating the above-mentioned points. The Committee recommends that these initiatives be used as a testing ground for further policy development.
