Short description  The Health Council evaluates and judges the carcinogenicity and genotoxicity of substances to which workers are occupationally exposed. In this case refractory ceramic fibres were evaluated. Based on the available information, the compounds are presumed to be carcinogenic to man, and therefore the council recommends classifying the compounds in category 1B. The council presumes that refractory ceramic fibres act by a non-genotoxic mechanism.
Abstract (focusing on the key recommendations)  At request of the Minister of Social Affairs and Employment, the Health Council of the Netherlands evaluates and judges the carcinogenic properties of substances to which workers are occupationally exposed.
