Short description  The commission examines the benefits and risks of human biobanks and in particular considers the implications of biobanks and the data that will be obtained with regards to social solidarity and public benefits on one hand and dangers to personal autonomy on the other. Here are also discussed practical implications for the development and operation of human biobanks such as consent, ownership of samples, control of and access to the data, commercial exploitation and licensing.
