Never has there been a greater need for bold and aspirational thinking to reinvigorate Europe. The new European Institutions will have to give this objective new impetus, based on the global 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals. This workshop, organised by the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR), will highlight several key issues from our reflections on Europe’s future, seen from a local and regional perspective and explored in our book "Europe 203 - local leaders speak out".
The workshop will focus on the need to adapt the EU’s governance model, and to better involve local and regional governments more effectively, in order to achieve the global and European policy objectives. It will address several key territorial policies such as territorial cohesion, social cohesion, climate change challenges and citizens' participation.
Our speakers will present a diverse set of views and opinions, based on personal testimonies from the territorial level. Through a lively debate, our discussions promise to be thought-provoking and interactive. Come along and be a part of the conversation!
