Europe faces multiple disaster risks. Just in the last few years several tragic events shook societies: wildfires in the South and North of Europe, earthquakes in Italy and Greece and hurricanes in the EU’s outermost regions. More frequent and severe disasters await in the future due to climate change. Investing in prevention and resilience is more urgent than ever. The session will focus on EU policy and funding instruments for disaster risk management that can help national, regional or local actors to increase the resilience of communities. Selected success stories from across Europe will serve as an inspiration.
