Side events

The European Week of Regions and Cities is the biggest event on EU regional and urban policy, open to all stakeholders. It attracts thousands of practitioners and experts to Brussels to discuss EU Cohesion Policy. Every year, a number of side events take place around the event in Brussels. The Green Infrastructure Fund managed by Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) is a national investment programme to create and improve green infrastructure in towns and cities on a far bigger scale than previously in Scotland, using funding from the European Regional Development Fund. The Green Infrastructure Fund prioritises projects within disadvantaged urban communities – 30 projects in all. The aim is to use the Fund’s projects as case studies and examples of best practice. SNH will disseminate information on this fund during the workshop, with a Q&A session and open discussion on the fund. Website:

Integration of refugees and newcomers in the labour market - European Week of Regions and Cities 2018

One of the country-specific recommendations by the European Commission to Belgium is that in 2017 and 2018 Belgium must ensure that the most disadvantaged groups, including people with a migrant background, have equal access to the labour market. Innovative Solutions for Transitioning Regions
