Better coordination among EU funds is a long-standing policy objective. Interreg CENTRAL EUROPE took this demand to the local level through its call for "capitalisation through coordination". Barriers were broken down in new cooperation projects that brought together partners from various EU funds to increase the impact of existing results. How successful was this experiment? In this talk, our speaker will reflect on the coordination process and present results from the recent impact evaluation.

Session summary
In our EU Regions Talk session on Breaking barriers among the EU funds for better impact, we presented our approach on how to bring together partners from projects funded by various EU funding instruments to increase the impact of their existing results. Our experimental call dated back in 2019 entitled "Capitalisation through Coordination" is a proof that this approach is delivering stronger impacts. It enables the transfer and leverage of existing project results, as well as better impacts at the territorial level.
The call mechanism we have used is a role model that is useful for the future calls by structural and investments funds in coordination with other funds like Horizon Europe but also Life+ or others. Our concrete collaboration with European Commission DG RTD resulted in Synergies mapping tool and our approach is mentioned in EC Notice on Synergies between Horizon Europe and ERDF Programme, as well as in an ESPON study on Entrepreneurial development niches in Interreg.
