The European Committee of the Regions (CoR), the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR), and Eurocities join forces with other territorial organisations in a strong partnership of cities and regions for sustainable development. Together they are organising an event highlighting the crucial role of local and regional authorities in this field.

The event will be the opportunity to define what the implementation of the sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) means at local and regional level through the presentation of two surveys carried out by CoR-OECD and by CEMR-PLATFORMA to map local and regional action on the SDGs. This will be followed by a political debate reacting to the Commission's recent reflection paper ‘Towards a sustainable Europe by 2030’, and then by a session showcasing subnational achievements on SDGs, as well as various methodologies and tools available to implement the SDGs at local and regional level.
