EU food products in the spotlight at Horeca Kuwait 2022

Over 500 industry professionals were in attendance at the European Union’s More than Food exhibition in partnership with Horeca Kuwait, the biggest spectacle in the hospitality and food sector in the country. The event took place on 23-25 May at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Kuwait.

A key highlight of the exhibition was the European Union Mystery Box cooking competition, in which 40 chefs from the region were challenged to create unique dishes out of a selection of EU food products. Through the competition, audience members learnt about the safety, authenticity, sustainability and quality of EU food, guaranteed through a robust farm-to-fork food system.

Overwhelming interest from participants led to an increase from 3 to 15 competition rounds, with audience members continuing to visit the exhibition throughout the day. At the exhibition, visitors were treated to a display of EU Organic food products and learnt about the EU's Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) and Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) labels.

Attendees surveyed at the event showed great satisfaction with the cooking competition as well as the information provided about EU food products.
