Interoperability
Europass users, can re-use their information from their Europass profile on other platforms, as well as import information from profiles on other platforms to Europass. Other features are being developed to support users to submit applications directly to employers, recruiters and education and training institutions.
This re-use of information between Europass and other services makes it very simple to transfer and update information on Europass, so that the Europass profile acts as an up-to-date source of information on user’s skills and qualifications. Europass operates on the strict principle that users own and control all their data.
Benefits
- Easy exchange of information between platforms: users avoid inputting the same information in different platforms and they have the possibility to re-use information from your platform to create a Europass CV or profile.
- Establishes a relationship with a widely recognised European service
Currently, of the Europass e-Portofolio interoperability only data model documentation is available. The web services themselves are being developed and will be available in the future.
The Europass data model facilitates the semantic interoperability of the different components of Europass with other platforms/services.
The data model describes the specific vocabulary to express the information in a number of Europass components:
- The Europass CV and documents,
- Europass Digital Credentials,
- Qualifications
- Learning opportunities
The Europass data model describes the specific vocabulary to express the information contained in Europass documents. This data model is realised in terms of an XML Schema, which describes the contents of Europass Documents and the constraints on the structure.
Overview
Europass XML schema contains the vocabulary that describes Europass information in the e-Profile and the Curriculum Vitae (CV). The Europass XML is based on the HR-Open Standards and EURES specifications. Europass XML builds further on the EURES schema by adding own elements and constraining or extending further the elements and attributes of the EURES schema.
Individuals, who use the Europass Online Editors to produce their Europass Curriculum Vitae, have the option to receive the document in PDF format with the XML attached. The most important benefit of this option is that it allows individuals to reuse their personal data to:

save time and effort when accessing the Europass online editors at a later point;

or for reuse on other platform (job portals, employment/admission services, etc...)

CV online editor
Also, the new CV online editor is backward compatible: it is possible to upload an XML or PDF+XML document that is based on Europass XML schema version 4.0.1. The editor will automatically convert the uploaded document to the latest XML version so that it can be further edited and downloaded.

An archive of previous Europass XML versions can be found below. This is only kept for backward compatibility purposes and historical reasons. Please use the latest XML version if you are just starting out with Europass Interoperability.
