Maresa Meissl is currently heading the Information Security Unit in the Commission's Security Directorate, responsible for all information security related activities, including cyber-attack response and staff accreditation. Prior to that she was policy advisor to the Commission's Security Director. She joined the European Commission in 2002 and has previously worked on digital policies in the framework of the Commission's Digital Agenda initiative. Prior to that she worked for a range of international communications providers and IT manufacturers.

She holds a PhD in communications law and economics from the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration.
