Giancarlo Vilella has been Director-General of DG ITEC since April 2011. He was born in Italy where he studied Political Sciences and Law, and joined the European Parliament in 1990. Vilella is Professor of European Law at Marche Polytechnic University, and is the author of several books and essays on Public administration and on the European Union.
