The European Year of Cultural Heritage offers a number of opportunities for activities, projects or research to receive support from the EU.

A large number of applications were submitted to Creative Europe’s recent call for papers, which closed on the 22nd of November. We will be publishing the results in mid-2018, so be sure to visit the Creative Europe website for details. Please note that the call for smaller and larger scale European cooperation projects is open until January the 18th, 2018. Projects related to cultural heritage are also eligible. Horizon 2020 - the EU funding programme for research and innovation supports cultural heritage

The European Union’s Research Framework Programmes have been supporting research on cultural heritage since 1986 in areas such as conservation, disaster resilience and energy efficiency in historic buildings, the arts, humanities and even underwater cultural heritage. The 2018-2020 Horizon 2020 work programme will offer €100m of funding for cultural heritage projects.

More opportunities for cultural heritage

The "Mapping of Cultural Heritage actions in the European Union" offers up-to-date information on a wealth of opportunities in the sphere of cultural heritage within different EU policies and funding programmes. In 2017, it has been described as a "remarkable publication" by the Budapest Observatory. Read more
