The #Ode2Joy Challenge is a social media initiative celebrating Europe’s cultural heritage throughout the year. Participants, either individually or as a group, are invited to create a video of their own performance or interpretation of Beethoven & Schiller’s “Ode to Joy”, in connection to a heritage site that matters to them and posting it on social media.
Europa Nostra and its President, Maestro Plácido Domingo, call upon citizens from all over Europe and beyond to participate with the aim of making an “Ode2Europe” as a humanistic and cultural project, based on shared values, history and heritage.
Everybody is invited to contribute
This challenge is not only targeted at professional and amateur performing artists (such as singers, musicians or dancers), but any creative and imaginative interpretation is also welcome (for example, photography, videos, drawings, games, stories or poems). The participation of schools is also strongly encouraged.
On 9 May 2018 – Europe Day – contributions will be live streamed or posted on social media using the hashtag #Ode2Joy. Further contributions can be made throughout the year.
A selection of the most inspiring and creative contributions will be showcased during the European Cultural Heritage Summit in Berlin (18-24 June 2018).
