Gioachino Rossini Celebrations

Gioachino Rossini (Pesaro, 29 February 1792 – Passy, Paris 13 November 1868), the world famous composer, represents for the Municipality of Pesaro, also recognised as “UNESCO-City of the Music”, the key figure for the territorial identity and for the development of the city tourism economy in Europe and Adriatic-Ionian Region.


Celebrating Rossini's life

On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the composer's death, the City of Pesaro will host an exceptionally rich calendar of initiatives, exhibitions, opera, shows, meetings, workshops, schools activities - to celebrate Rossini's life, works and places through an innovative but popular approach, also outside the usual cultural spaces. Furthermore, the program of cultural initiatives will allow the reorganization of Rossini's spaces with a strong tourist perspective.

The Rossini's birthplace house was transformed by the municipality into a museum where scientific heritage is accessible to everyone through ICT. Other Rossini's places of extraordinary cultural value are: The Teatro Rossini, inaugurated as “Teatro del Sole”; the Palazzo Olivieri, headquarter of Rossini Conservatory and Rossini Foundation, also declared "asset of cultural interest"; the Pedrotti Auditorium, one of the National Interest Heritage recognised "Rossini Opera Festival" venue.
