Central African Republic 'Blood Timber'

Global Witness has published a report that accuses EU companies of fuelling conflict in the Central African Republic (CAR) and claims that the EU Member States failed to implement Regulation (EU) 995/2010 (the EUTR). Global Witness says the EU should suspend the VPA with CAR and that the EU Member States should enforce the EUTR against all companies that place CAR wood on the market since 2013. Its other recommendations are aimed at China, France, the UN Panel of Experts and “the international community”.
