The First Africa food security & adaptation conference explored ecosystem-based approaches to enhance food security, ecosystem productivity and climate change adaptation in Africa. 700 participants from 54 countries attended the conference, including representatives of governments, civil society and intergovernmental organizations. The objective of the workshop was to facilitate experience sharing and to discuss the lessons learnt from case studies around the continent regarding food security adaptation to climate change. At the end of the conference, the participants adopted a declaration on food security and climate change adaptation, which recognizes ecosystem-based adaptation approaches as the first step towards building resilient food systems.

The participant’s booklet summarize the case studies presented during the conference, which are also availalb on the website of the event.
