Paul Nkhoma
I am a Development Economist trained at the University of Malawi (BSc Econs/Demography)(1989) and Centre for Development Economics (CDE), Williams College, MA, USA (MA (Development Economics)(1994). I have also had short-term training at Harvard Institute for International Development (HIID)(1991)(Investment Appraisal), USA, Economics Institute at Boulder, University of Colorado, USA (1993), Academy for Educational Development, Washington DC, USA (1996)(Project Analysis, Implementation and Monitoring using Microcomputers(1996), USA). I worked in the Office of the President and Cabinet in Malawi from 1989-95 as an economist on public sector investment programming (PSIP) gaining insightful exposure to all the sectors of the economy in Malawi and thereby enabling me to understand different economic analysis techniques employed in different sectors. I then joined the Malawi Institute of Management (MIM)(1995-97) as a Consultant responsible for training middle to senior level management of the public, NGO and private sectors in policy analysis and project management. Since 1998, I have been with MCG as one of the Directors. My interests are in quantitative and qualitative research in any of the sectors of our economy, baseline surveys, monitoring and evaluation work as well as capacity building. I have more than 21 years as a management consultant.
