Associate professor in the Department of Environmental Science, University of Botswana. Expert in Global Environmental Change -arid to semi-arid lands particularly Africa, taking an integrating approach to environmental issues. Areas of experience: Applications of Remote Sensing; land degradation; wild land fires; hazards and disasters (participated in ICSU initiatives and IPCC Climate Extremes report);climate change impacts vulnerability and adaptation and climate change and sustainable development (participated in IPCC WGII assessments as lead, contributing, coordinating lead author and currently Review Editor for Africa Chapter for AR5). Vice Chair of the International Geophere-Biosphere Programme leading the IGBP synthesis theme on Global Environmental Change and Least Development countries and also Chair of the Botswana Global Environmental Change Committee.
