The projects that Milan has managed involved a mix of the highest-level policy advice and strategy building, with hands-on implementation such as: Establishing a unique Transatlantic cooperation in research and innovation between the European Commission and Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) USA. Establishing JVs for Research and Innovation, for construction and for manufacturing in China, and during that period acting as advisor of the Minister of Energy of China. Defining EU support to the Government of India in the field of Environment through co-funding Solar Research center as well as five Eco cities in India. Mid-Term Evaluation of the EU Neighborhood Investment Facility (NIF), an innovative mechanism aiming at blending grants from the European Development Fund (EDF) with loans and other funding from Development Finance Institutions. Recommendations were considered for the launch of the Caribbean Investment Facility (CIF) and the Investment Facility for the Pacific (IFP). Leading the development of the Innovation Strategies of EU Overseas Countries and Territories. Bringing innovations to business by bridging science and business via participation in SRTD project in Jordan, and more recently Support to the Academy of Sciences of Moldova in better integration into the European Research Area, including assistance to Agency for Innovation and Technology Transfer. The assessment of the innovation supply and demand side, and improving the efficiency of the Innovation infrastructure including technology parks and innovation incubators. Developing several national and regional strategies and policies including Boosting renewable energies and energy efficiency in the Caribbean islands, national Sustainable Construction Strategy for Mauritius, national Energy Strategy for Moldova, Regional Trade and Transport Facilitation in Jordan, national policy for Green economy jobs for Micro and Small Enterprises in Trinidad and Tobago.
