Ekene is a UNESCO Young African Leader on the culture of peace and a passionate youth development proponent, with over nine years of experience volunteering and working with youth-led organizations, co-founding the Nigerian UNESCO Youth Platform, a project that focused on educating Nigerian youth through social projects and exchange programs, which helped kick-start the UNESCO Youth Desk in Nigeria.
Presently, he is an elected steering board member of the Pan-African Youth Network on the Culture of Peace (PAYNCoP) -UNESCO, representing West Africa and also functions as the External Relations and Partnership Director. He was also the Nigerian Official Youth Delegate to the UNESCO 8th Youth Forum, and has participated in several highlevel fora including the just concluded 10 commemoration of the African Youth Charter, Banjui +10, in Gambia.
He founded the “Youth Vanguards for Peace” project which focuses on promoting a culture of peace lifestyle through peace education in Universities using a peer-to-peer approach, supported by the TalkUbuntu Foundation.
Ekene holds a Bachelor’s degree in Geology Sciences, and a PGD in Entrepreneurship Research and Development, and currently doing a program on project management at BAU.
