I am specialist in GIS and Remote Sensing and has been involved with development and management of spatial databases and modeling for water resource evaluation and disaster risk assessment and reduction applications. I have recently finished a Water Research Commission research project on use of Global Navigation Satellite Systems for groundwater monitoring, which was integrated within a wider, UNESCO-supported, International Geoscience Programme (IGCP 565) project, ‘Developing the Global Geodetic Observing System (GGOS) into a monitoring system for the Global Water Cycle’.
I have over 9 years’ experience in managing and leading projects, both as a project manager and as a project director, such as being a study leader of the Deep Artesian Groundwater Exploration Study (DAGEOS) for Oudtshoorn Municipality with a budget of over R12 million and co-coordinator of the SADC component of the European Union FP7 funded project, Group on Earth Observation Network for Capacity Building project, to develop and raise awareness on use of earth observation in Southern Africa.
