Peace and Security
Security, justice and human rights are closely interlinked, often relying on the same actors but under the authority of different powers (executive, legislative or judicial) and also implying civil society. This section covers the wide range of support that donors can provide in these areas, including justice system reform, access to justice, security sector reform, DDR, small arms and light weapons and mine action. The section also covers cross-cutting dimensions related to conflict prevention and peace-building.
The regional meeting is an opportunity to review the main discussions and outcomes of the African Union – European Union summit in Abidjan held in November 2017, and look at the implications going forward.
The European Union, through the European Security and Defence College (ESDC), is organising the second Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) Seminar with European Union and South American countries and Mexico.
