Transformational Potential:
Support the transboundary water management in Africa to support development and regional integration
Team Europe Proposal:
Geographic scope: Support to the 35 countries in SSA and 3 countries in the Maghreb region
Specific objectives:
- Continental policies and strategies, supporting knowledge, data and research;
- Institutional frameworks (regional, sub-regional, national) for transboundary basin cooperation and promotion;
- Holistic IWRM and WEFE nexus approaches;
- Key investment projects.
The activities include:
- Capacity development for continental and regional stakeholders (SO 1-4);
- Strengthen TWM and TBA governance and institutional organisation (SO 1-2);
- Introducing novel approaches for transboundary cooperation (SO 3);
- Improving knowledge, analytical tools and information systems (SO 3);
- Strategic planning for measures and actions, including adaptation to climate change (SO 3-4);
- Consolidation of independent and sustainable financing for the TBA (SO 4);
- Knowledge and project preparation for investments of transboundary relevance designed for joint benefits (SO 4).
