Laos - Green Deal
Team Europe Green Initiative in the Lao PDR
Transformational Potential - Contribution to the transformational potential of national policies in areas of high potential for:
- Climate adaptation and mitigation
- Sustainable socio-economic development
- Private sector development International and regional trade
- Governance issues (e.g. workers’ rights, women economic empowerment)
The Team Europe Proposal activities are divided in priorities:
Priority 1 - Phakhao Lao ("Farm-to-Fork"):
- Sustainable transition to climate-adapted agro-ecology
- Strengthening of value chains and quality
- Increasing national agricultural outputs
- Potential for green decent and inclusive employment
- Potential for exportation
- Promotion of safe, sustainable and diverse quality nutrition
Priority 2 - Forest Partnership:
- Improvement of land-use management
- Enhancing the rule of law
- Reversing land degradation and ecosystems loss
- Reducing vulnerability to climate change
- Promoting biodiversity conservation Improving water availability and quality
- Tackling informal trade
- Preserving land quality and reducing greenhouse gas emissions
Complementary priorities:
- Climate resilient infrastructure and connectivity
- Sustainable tourism and heritage
- Green and renewable energy
- Green cities
- Green skills and youth employment
- Digitalisation
- Governance
