framework of the Africa-EU Energy Partnership (AEEP), two major events take
place in Vienna on 20-22 April 2010: The first High Level Meeting of the AEEP
and the Global Forum on Sustainable Energy.*
======== GLOBAL FORUM ON SUSTAINABLE ENERGY (GFSE) ===========================


The ninth *Global Forum on Sustainable Energy* takes place back-to-back with
the first High Level Meeting of the Africa-EU Energy Partnership. *It will be
held on 22 April 2010 in Vienna.*
The one-day meeting will take up the key issues discussed at the High Level
Meeting, namely energy access, energy security, renewable energy and energy
efficiency. African and European experts will discuss common challenges and
develop solutions for sustainable energy services on the two continents. *The
Global Forum on Sustainable Energy* is a multi-stakeholder platform which is
facilitating international dialogue between key players on energy for
sustainable development.

Given the growing German-African cooperation in the energy
sector, the German African Business Association [1] will continue to focus
on these developments and will organize the 5th German-African Energy Forum
from 19-21 April, 2010. The forum will again seek to attract cooperation
partners from Africa and Germany, to further direct attention of the German
energy industry on the potential of the African continent.

The Energy Forum is under the patronage of the German Federal Ministry of
Economics and Technology, represented by Hans-Joachim Otto, Parliamentary
State Secretary.

On the first two days of the event in Hamburg, the conference will bring
together top-level speakers and representatives to present and discuss the
following issues of the African energy sector and the German-African energy

* Upstream: Exploration, Production & Marketing
* Pipeline (Construction and Operation)
* Downstream: Refining, Petrochemicals and Distribution
* Power: Production, Transmission, Distribution
* Energy Efficiency
* Renewable Energies: Solar, Wind, Hydropower, Geothermal and Biofuels
* Clean Development Mechanism
* Financing and Insurance of African Energy Projects

The programme will be continued by a visit of the Hannover Energy Fair. We
invite all participants of the 5th German-African Energy Forum to spend a
whole day at the Hanover Fair [2], the world’s largest energy & industrial
fair. As in 2009, the German-African Energy Forum will again be a part of the
“World Energy Dialogue [3]”, which will bring together with high-ranking
speakers from the industry, science and politics. In the afternoon of 21
April high-ranking African government and company representatives will
take part in a panel discussion under the title "German-African Energy
Dialogue". The moderator is Prof. Dr. Klaus Töpfer, former Executive
Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

As a leader in the global drive to provide access to modern sustainable energy services the European Commission is launching a profound examination of new financial opportunities to support Rural Electrification. In a two day Workshop hosted by the EC in Brussels on 29-30 September, 2014, a variety of stakeholders will have the opportunity to discuss new possibilities for providing financial support to Rural Electrification projects through a joint effort by the private sector and civil society organisations, and to share experiences and to identify common practices.One of the objectives will be to identify successful business models for accelerated roll-out of energy access in rural communities.

ADEA (Agency for the development of enterprises in Africa) organises the
annual* EURAFRIC-PARTNERS Forum *in Lyon (France) Congress Centre from *18th
to 21st of October 2010* .

The *Forum’s *objective is to facilitate business *partnerships between
Europe and Africa*. During this event, policy- makers, experts, primary
international funding institutions and small/medium size companies from
Africa and Europe all assemble with the aim of brainstorming on initiatives
for promoting business partnerships between Europe and Africa. 

EURAFRIC FORUM will serve 3 purposes: 

·*Promote partnerships between the EU and Africa in the Water and Energy


·*Help African companies to be more competitive and attractive in
international markets   ***


·*Reduce poverty in Africa.** *



This Year’s *EURAFRIC Forum *organised in collaboration with ERAI,
TENEDERDIS, INES and the ECO ENERGIE cluster will feature conferences
focusing on the theme: *«Competitive clusters, Water & Energy in*
*Africa».  *The objective of this theme is to explore whether Competitive
poles in Africa will facilitate more efficient business partnerships between
EU and Africa regarding Energy and Water projects.  **



*Funding, Imparting expertise & savoir-faire and Business Partnerships *will
be the major themes in the course of the 4-day forum, an event which promises
to assemble 900 participants representing 20 nations in *Europe *and
