The 2nd meeting of the ARSO Technical Harmonization Committee on African
traditional medicine will take place in Mauritius from the 2nd until the 6th
of March 2015. 

The results of the deliberations, obtained during the 1st Tecnical
Harmonization Committee in Nairobi, are now being incorporated into the
Committee draft standards and will be presented for consideration as Final
Draft Standards at the second THC 13 meeting to be recommended for adoption
in accordance with the African Standards Harmonisation Model (ASHAM).

*About the Brussels Briefings*

The ACP-EU technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA [1]),
the European Commission [2], the EU Presidency, the ACP Group [3],Concord
[4], and other partners organize *regular development Briefing sessions in
Brussels on key issues and challenges for rural development in the context of
EU/ACP cooperation*.
The*target group*of such Briefings is the wider ‘development’ community
in Brussels (EC services, European Parliament, NGOs and networks, ACP group,
EU Member States representatives…).

*Objectives of the Briefing on Resilience and Agribusiness in SIDS*

To improve information sharing and promote networking, the CTA, DG DEVCO from
the European Commission, the ACP Secretariat, and Concord organise bimonthly
briefings on key issues and challenges for rural development in the context
of EU/ACP cooperation. The Briefing on 11th July 2014 will address issues
related to vulnerabilities and opportunities for ACP small island economies.
It will: (i) raise awareness on economic challenges in SIDS; (ii) increase
exchange of information and expertise on economic and trade resilience of
SIDS; (iii) capture key messages from the Briefing for the upcoming SIDS
Conference in Samoa; and (iv) facilitate networking amongst development

Rwanda titled: "Strengthening the capacity of RBS conformity assessment
services towards Accreditation".

The final presentation of findings will be done during a 2 day-workshop
taking place in Kigali on the 27th and 28th of October.

The ACP EU TBT Programme is currently implementing a project in The Gambia
for the Ministry of Trade, Industry, Regional Integration and Employment
(MOTIE) that has the overall responsibility for trade and competition
policies in the Gambia.

The project aims at strengthening the existing capacity of national
institutions to comply with WTO/TBT requirements and will end with a final
workshop on WTO TBT agreement dedicated to key national institutions.
