The Seminar is organised as the annual Multistakeholder Forum of the EU Water
Initiative (EUWI), and constitutes a contribution to the 2015 'EU Year of
Development'. The Seminar will present and discuss the new initiatives being
launched and developed in the different partnerships established in the EUWI
framework, enhancing the role of water as a driver for sustainable
development, with a special focus on the water-energy-food security nexus. It
will present experience and good practice from the ongoing work and debate on
further actions.

Small Island Developing States (SIDS), but also other developing countries,
especially in the Global South, still face distinctive challenges to ensure
sustainable livelihoods for their current population as well as future
generations. One of these challenges relates to energy – the access to
affordable energy, the reliable supply of sustainable energy and the
efficient use of energy.
To reach learners from SIDS all over the world, an unique online learning
course has been developed to address this themes – 100% online! The L3EAP
online learning course “Sustainable Energy for SIDS” (9/1 – 26/2/2017)
seeks to inspire learners to ask the right questions and enable them to
assess the opportunities of renewable and sustainable energy-efficient energy
technologies offer for SIDS in particular.

The overarching objective of the training is to support the EU-UNICEF Child Rights Toolkit’s continued roll-out and take-up by development practitioners and that participants share the commitment to apply a child rights-based approach to development cooperation.This training is organised under the patronage of the EU Delegation to Tanzania and UNICEF Tanzania   Specific objectives of the training are:  ✓To strengthen the understanding and implementation of a child rights-based approach and the realization of children’s rights across sectors and programming stages, notably through concrete examples from EU implementing partners;  ✓To enhance the capacity of development experts and practitioners working at country level in the EU Delegation, governments, bilateral- and multilateral agencies, civil society organizations and international organizations to integrate children’s rights in their work; and  ✓To establish a reference network between Government and development cooperation agencies in Tanzania so as to maintain continuous momentum in the implementation of the Child Rights Toolkit.

The RPCA is currently this meeting which will bring together the region’s
main food and nutrition security stakeholders. The meeting will also host a
session of the Senior Experts Group of the Global Alliance for Resilience –
Sahel and West Africa (SEG-AGIR [1]). Focal points in charge of the
resilience pillars of Sahel strategies will participate in the debate. Draft
Agenda [2]


* Validate the results of the 2015-16 agro-sylvo-pastoral campaign and make
* Review the National Resilience Priorities (*NRPs [3]*) process and
progress made in their implementation
* Brainstorm on how to strengthen synergy, convergence and
complementarities of resilience initiatives (*AGIR Declaration [4]*).

A restricted group of RPCA Members will already gather on 13 April 2016 to
examine further ways of strengthening the visibility, effectiveness and
impact of the Network. Concerned participants will receive a specific
invitation for this event. For all other participants, the RPCA event will
start on 14 April 2016.
