The Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA) is collaborating with
the Government of Ghana through the Ministry of Environment, Science,
Technology and Innovation (MESTI) and the Ministry of Food and Agriculture
(MoFA) to organize the 6th Africa Agriculture Science Week [1], a continental
gathering of all stakeholders in Africa Agriculture to create an open space
for networking and exchanging information and knowledge on agricultural
innovations and on topical issues with a bearing on agriculture research and
development.

The Committee on World Food Security (CFS) launched a two-year consultative
process to develop an Agenda for Action to address food insecurity in
protracted crises. This e-discussion on resilience-building programming [1]
is one of a series exploring critical topics on how we can improve food
security in protracted crisis situations. Facilitated by Malcolm Ridout
(DFID), this is your opportunity to tell us about actions, principles,
recommendations and good practices, and how we can stimulate policy
change. Ultimately, this discussion will help inform and shape the
elaboration of an Agenda for Action for Addressing Food Insecurity in
Protracted Crises, to be considered by the CFS in 2014.

The African Union Commission, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the
United Nations and the Instituto Lula have organized a meeting of African and
international leaders to deliberate and endorse a radical approach to end
Hunger in Africa by 2025, building on renewed partnerships within the CAADP
Framework, and lessons learned from the experience of Brazil and other
countries that have made substantial gains in their ‘zero hunger’
programs. The meeting was from the 29th June – 1st July 2013 at the AU
Conference Centre in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
