Argentina and the EU have established a regular human rights dialogue. The
III session of the EU –Argentina Human Rights dialogue took place on 19
April 2012 and both parties agreed that a seminar will be organized in 2012
to give continuity to one of the topics identified thereof: the fight against
discrimination. Also to closely involve stakeholders in the official dialogue
process. The seminar will be organised in the Argentine city of Córdoba and
should serve as forum for exchange and learning between European and
Argentine civil socity organisations. The conclusions should feed in future
sessions of the bilateral dialogue.

If anyone interested in participating please do not hesitate to contact me

Spanish and English.

 **Exploring a decade of achievements and challenges in the EU Forest Law
Enforcement, Governance and Trade (FLEGT) programme**


** llegal logging costs developing countries US$15 billion in lost revenues
each year (World Bank), and has helped to fund national and regional
conflicts.  In March next year, the EU Timber Regulation will place
restrictions on timber legally allowed to enter the EU.**








**This timely conference will examine the ten year history of the EU Forest
Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (FLEGT) Action Plan, and explore any
lessons for the future. EU FLEGT has emerged as a uniquely inclusive,
innovative approach to  protecting forests and the livelihoods of the people
who use them.**

***Speakers will include:* MEPs Yannick Jadot and Fiona Hall, Goldman
environment prize winner Silas Siakor, former Guardian Environment Journalist
of the year Fred Pearce, civil society representatives from forest producing
countries, the EU Timber Trade Federation, and International NGOs. More
speakers will be announced later.**

Convenio sobre la Protección y Utilización de los Cursos de Agua
Transfronterizos y de los Lagos Internacionales (Convenio del Agua) de la
UNECE, así como de la fase VII del Programa Hidrológico Internacional (PHI)
de la UNESCO. El Seminario contribuirá al Año Internacional de la
Cooperación en la Esfera del Agua celebrado en el 2013 y que está dirigido
por la UNESCO y la UNECE en nombre de ONU-Agua.

The objective of the Guyana Mangrove Forum is to build local and regional
capacity in mangrove restoration and management, continue to raise the public
profile of the values of mangroves in Guyana and to bring together national,
regional and international researchers to share experience and knowledge of
the sustainable management of mangrove ecosystems. Registration for the
workshop will open on the 15th November 2012.

The Science Forum series is a flagship event that was initiated by the
Independent Science and Partnership Council (ISPC) in 2009 under its remit of
Mobilizing Science. It serves as a means to reach out to scientists and
scientific communities largely external to the CGIAR, but who have
potentially important contributions to make to the CGIAR research portfolio
and its system level objectives of improving food security, human nutrition
and health, alleviation of poverty and environmental sustainability.
