Youth are a priority of the European Union's social vision, and the current crisis compounds the need to nurture young human capital. This communication responds by setting out a strategy for the future of policies for youth in Europe.
Social protection directly reduces poverty. It helps poor women and men better tackle vulnerability and embark on more sustainable routes out of poverty, for example by more successful participation in the labour market. Social protection is also an investment in people.
