2012 World Bank Report on Gender Equality and Development
'GENDER EQUALITY IS THE RIGHT AND SMART THING TO DO’, says the 2012 World Bank Report on Gender Equality and Development. This report - released on 18 September 2011 - shows that women's lives around the world have improved dramatically, but gaps remain in many areas. The authors use a conceptual framework to examine progress to date, and then recommend policy actions.
“Gender equality matters in its own right but is also smart economics: Countries that create better opportunities and conditions for women and girls can raise productivity, improve outcomes for children, make institutions more representative, and advance development prospects for all,” says the press release of this World Bank flagship report.
