Stakeholders in Thailand are preparing for the launch of formal VPA negotiations between Thailand and the EU.
The EU FLEGT Facility has just made available a report on the testing of export and import procedures for Indonesia’s timber and timber products. The report is titled ‘V-Legal/FLEGT shipment test – Lessons learned from the EU visits’.
The EU FAO FLEGT Programme launched in March a call for proposals opened to local stakeholders - government, civil society organisations and private sector organisations - in VPA countries.
The deadline for application is 30 June 2013.
Eurostat has published trade data on wood products imported to the European Union from some countries that are negotiating or implementing a VPA.
Thailand will soon begin negotiating a Voluntary Partnership Agreement (VPA) with the European Union.
