The Arab Fund for Art and Culture and the Prince Claus Fund in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, in partnership with the Magnum Foundation in New York, USA have launched the Arab Documentary Photography Program (ADPP).

ADPP,targeting creative documentary photographers in the Arab region, will give 10 grantees the possibility to get financial and professional support to complete their photography projects.

Up to 10 annual production grants of 5,000 USD each will be given to the grantees. The winners of the grant are expected to work on their projects in their country of residence over a period of 8 months. The grant may be used to begin a new project or to complete work on an existing project.

The grant is open to Arab applicants living and working in the Arab region. Professional and emerging photographers are eligible to apply. Grantees need to speak English as the workshops and communications will be conducted in this language. Grantees must be independent, i.e. not currently working under any “work for hire” agreements, and should have full copyright ownership of the work they produce.

The objectives of the program are to raise the level of creative documentary photography in the Arab region; to train photographers and expand their approaches to visual storytelling; to share strong visual narratives from the Arab region regionally and internationally; and to explore wider access to documentary photography and a more active engagement with its audiences.

ADPP is a program jointly funded by The Arab Fund for Art and Culture and the Prince Claus Fund and will run from 2014 to 2016. This year's first workshop will take place between June 15-18, 2015, and the second workshop will start on December 7 and end on December 11, 2015. Grantees will be required to attend both workshops.

Deadline for applications is April 1, 2015

The grantees will be announced on May 14, 2015.
