A Learning and Knowledge Development Strategy for EuropeAid
In pursuit of becoming a learning organisation promoting capitalisation of knowledge and expertise, EuropeAid adopted its first ever Learning and Knowledge Development Strategy 2014-2020 and action plan in November 2014.
The strategy, which saw contributions from across the DG, provides a framework for synergic actions in all related areas in EuropeAid. This will allow the DG - as an organisation and its staff - to acquire, develop, retain, share and apply the knowledge and skills necessary to achieve DEVCO's mandate and goals, including the overarching goal of becoming a learning and knowledge-based organisation.
In the following video interview, Fernando Frutuoso de Melo, EuropeAid’s Director General, explains why EuropeAid needs such a strategy and how the actions following from this strategy will change the way they work.
In a nutshell, the strategy focuses on two complementary fields: knowledge management and learning. For knowledge management, the strategy identifies challenges, good practices and proposes actions in three areas: ‘People and Corporate Culture’, ‘Organisation and Business Processes’ and ‘Facilitating Corporate Systems’. As for learning, EuropeAid's staff development will be aligned with the priorities of the DG to implement the Agenda for Change and long-term HR policy. Consequently, training will focus on core business whilst enhancing learning tools and delivery methods.
