Independent Consultant: Environmental Management - Capacity Development - Facilitation
Following 15 years with UNDP, I have been working since 2005 as independent consultant on capacity development, change management, aid effectiveness, policy dialogue, facilitation and coaching. With experience in various sectors, I have maintained and deepened a particular focus on environmental mainstreaming, greening development cooperation, climate change adaptation, energy transition, food and nutrition security.
Assignments have included: strategic reviews, evaluations, benchmarking reviews, methodological guidance, strategy development and planning, organizational change management, distance coaching, knowledge management and training, event and process facilitation. Clients include DEVCO, FAO, UNDP, UNECA, AfDB, Particip, ACBF, UN DESA, OECD/DAC, GIZ, BTC, SDC, DIPLO, ADE, HTSPE, ECORYS.
During my career with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) 1990-2005 I held positions as Policy Advisor Capacity Development, Policy Advisor Environmental Management and Mainstreaming, Advocacy and Information Specialist with the Office to Combat Desertification and Drought (UNSO), Trainer for environmental management, Assistant Resident Representative, Ethiopia, Programme Officer (JPO), Angola.
I have worked mainly in Africa with assignments in Angola, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Eritrea, South Africa, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, Ghana, The Gambia, Cabo Verde, Liberia, Nigeria, Sao Tomé e Principe, Mali, Burkina Faso, Tunisia and Morocco, and also in Myanmar, Thailand, The Philippines, Colombia and Albania …
My academic background is divers, with an apprenticeship as cabinet maker, protestant theology, a Master degree in Political Sciences, a Diploma in Environmental Sciences and a continued interest in cross-disciplinary learning.
