4/1000 Initiative: Soils for Food Security and Climate

Initiaited by the French government, the 4/1000 Initiative engages stakeholders in shifting towards resilient agriculture through sustainable soil management that generates jobs and incomes, thereby ensuring sustainable development. It consists of a voluntary action plan under the Lima-Paris Action Agenda (LPAA), backed up by an ambitious research programme. The official launch of the initiative will take place at COP 21 in Paris on 1 December with the signing of a joint declaration by stakeholders.
