9. Regional Workshop on the organisation of informal workers (Peru, December 2017)

Share

A five-day workshop on the organisation of informal workers has been organised by the Research, Network & Support Facility (RNSF) in December 2017 in Peru.

Organising is at the core of the actions and policies designed to enhancing the livelihoods of populations dependent on the informal economy. It is key for strengthening the access of the informal workers to financing, for extending their social protection, for weighing in the value chains, for making their voice heard and their rights recognised by public authorities and other stakeholders.

The workshop involved researchers, regional experts, public institutions, EU Delegations as well as CSOs implementing project funded by the EU Thematic Programme “Investing in People” in Latin America.

Using the innovative “Write Workshop” methodology developed by the KIT Royal Tropical Institute in Amsterdam, participants shared and reviewed their experiences to produce a book in Spanish containing recommendations, innovative ideas and approaches on the organisation of informal workers.

Here is a short video edited for the workshop in Lima, presenting the process, the outcome and the next steps of the workshop through the interviews of Paolo Carlini, RNSF Team Leader, and the representatives of the different implementing partners:
