EC seminar "Entitlement and access to food: Systems of social transfers to fight extreme poverty"

In April 2008, the unit E6 d’EuropeAid organised a seminar to better understand the potential role of social protection in addressing food security and the logic behind the idea of social transfers within the access to food component different types of social transfer.
The main objectives of the seminar:
- Facilitate exchange of experiences and lessons learnt based on ongoing programmes on social transfers implemented throughout different socio-economic and political contexts.
- Better understand the logic behind the idea of social redistribution within the component Access to Food and precise the modalities of its implementation through sound programme/budgetary based approach;
- Formulate concrete recommendations for future programmes.
