Jonas CLAES

Jonas Claes works as a Policy Officer in the EEAS directorate on the Integrated Approach for Security and Peace (ISP). Within the Directorate, he supports EU conflict analysis and prevention efforts and advises on conflict sensitivity within the Conflict Prevention and Mediation division (ISP.2). Beyond his role in the design and facilitation of conflict analyses, he focuses on the prevention of election violence and training. From 2009 to 2019, he coordinated applied research, field training, and analysis on the prevention of violent conflict, election violence and mass atrocities at the U.S. Institute of Peace. Claes is also the editor of "Electing Peace: Violence Prevention and Impact at the Polls, and authored several book chapters and articles on conflict prevention and the responsibility to protect.
