The year 2015 has been proclaimed the European Year for Development(EYD), with the motto, “Our world, our dignity, our future”. The European Yearfor Development 2015 aims to stimulate the active interest of European citizens indevelopment cooperation and to foster a sense of responsibility and of opportunityas regards participation in policy formulation and implementation. In Belgium,preparations for the Year are the responsibility of the Development Cooperationand Humanitarian Aid section of Belgium’s Foreign Ministry, which is coordinatinga programme of activities, on the themes of sustainable human developmentand well-being for all. Activities initiated by non-governmental bodies involvedin Belgian development cooperation and by local groups will be organised allover the country throughout the year. BOZAR and AFRICALIA participate inthe year’s launch on 17.01.2015 with Afropean+ and a debate on the role of culture.
