The webinar which starts at 12 noon East African Time (EAT) will showcase activities and lessons learned from five eco-villages situated in varied agri-ecological zones in Tanzania. The eco-villages fall under the European Union funded Global Climate Change Alliance.

The Igunga Eco-village project aims to increase the resilience of 9 local farmer communities that are strongly affected by the adverse effects of climate change.

The eco-village approach that is used in Igunga district is an holistic approach. It integrates interventions in a range of sectors (water, energy, agriculture and livestock, gender, HIV/Aids) in order to sustainably improve climate change resilience and reduce poverty.

EcoACT falls under the GCCA Tanzania programme, and has been working with selected farmers to produce quality declared seeds to enable farmers to sell and purchase good seeds at a good price. Regulations are strict however, and farmers must comply in order to grow these seeds.
