Based in:
Thailand

Etienne Delattre is a seasoned forester, conservationist and environment professional with over 20 years of technical and managerial experience in forestry and community-based NRM, biodiversity and wildlife conservation, landscape governance, and climate change. He now leads for the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) the European Union (EU) funded project "Support to Civil Society in Combating Wildlife Trafficking and Forest Crime in the Greater Mekong Region, Malaysia and PR China" (EU-CWT), a 10M € Action implemented through a consortium of 12 international and national partner organizations; its aim is to disrupt illicit supply chains from source to market for tiger, elephant, rosewood and freshwater turtles. Previously, in a similar position at RECOFTC-The Center for People and Forests, he successfully started up the EU-funded "Voices for Mekong Forests" (V4MF) aiming to advance good forest governance through leveraging partnerships with civil society to increase effectiveness of government action. In his first tenure with WCS (2002-2010) as Regional Landscape Analyst, he supervised and monitored the integration of spatial dimensions in a variety of projects across Asia while mentoring dedicated staff from Afghanistan to Indonesia. Etienne Delattre has a Master’s (M.Sc.) in Forestry with overseas experience and residence in Asia (Central, South and Southeast) and Africa (West, Central and East).
